Alberta Health and Wellness established the Alberta Healthy School Community Wellness Fund to address issues of health and wellness among children and youth within Alberta school communities. The fund supports projects that promote healthy school communities and aim to improve the health and wellness of school-aged children and youth.

The next round of funding is now available for projects that support healthy choices, such as active living, healthy eating, and positive social environments in school communities. For information on eligibility for funding and to read the attached overview, click here.

Two categories of funding are available:

• Category A Larger Grant Funding up to $50,000 per year for approved projects.  Category A grants may be approved to sustain successful projects for a maximum of three years.  The deadline for receiving the next round of Larger Grant applications is February 29, 2008. Successful applicants will be selected in March, 2008.
• Category B Smaller Grant Funding up to $10,000 for school community projects or activities.  Applications for smaller grants will be accepted between October, 2007 and March 28, 2008. Applications received by 4 pm, December 14, 2007 will be reviewed in January, 2008. Applications received after December 14, 2007 will be reviewed in April, 2008.
