As part of the Government of Alberta’s Healthy U campaign, Communities ChooseWell is an energizing healthy eating and active living initiative supported by Alberta Health and Wellness and managed by the Alberta Recreation and Parks Association (ARPA).  Building on four successful years, Communities ChooseWell is back by popular demand to educate, empower and recognize communities across the province for efforts to promote healthier living to their residents.

What’s up for 2011?  Communities ChooseWell will continue to provide recognition for local success and enhance community leadership to promote citizens' health and quality of life.  Registered communities will receive promotional toolkits, e-learning opportunities, and may apply for seed grants to reduce barriers to healthy eating for tweens and teens – the target population in 2011.  Watch for exciting new community challenges to be introduced in 2011, including ChooseWell Iron Chef: A Made From Alberta Approach to Healthy Eating; 21 Days to Healthy Eating; and Acts of Random Physical Activity.
